Recently, I was reading a book on entrepreneurship. In it, the author stated that she uses AI to generate her weekly blogs. I do not know why, but I took an almost immediate offense to this idea. She is right – it’s probably a massive timesaver. But isn’t that the real problem in the world today? Are we trading time savers for personal connections?

For me, blogging is personal. I generally do it in my favorite chair at my home in New Hampshire, or my gym in central Massachusetts. It takes me weeks to think about what I want to say to my audience. I write it out, send it to my trusted friends, my dad, and my husband, and get feedback. I sculpt it. I make sure you can hear my voice in it. It takes a lot of time, but I love cheer, and I love talking candidly about it so it’s worth the time I invest in getting it right.

I give the same love and dedication to the teams I coach, the relationships I build, and the gym I continue to grow and nurture. I cannot see trading this authenticity for anything. I think AI is really cool, and as a former IT person who worked in AI for a few years, there are a lot of benefits to it. But there is some loss of personal connections there as well. I guess we are all left with personally deciding what the trade-offs are worth it, and what are not.

See you soon,
Coach Jill
